Diversity Fashion Show 2026
Third Edition of the African Fashion Show
May 30, 2026 | Chișinău, Republic of Moldova

The Diversity Fashion Show 2026 marks the third edition of the African Fashion Show initiative, founded in 2023 by Yerie Mary Kamara. This year’s edition represents an important step forward in strengthening youth engagement, minority representation, and social cohesion across Moldova. Led by founder Yerie Mary Kamara in collaboration with ZIPHouse and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Republic of Moldova, the 2026 edition brings together minority communities, designers, artisans, women entrepreneurs, youth, and members of the international community under one platform.

Through a blend of traditional and contemporary fashion, cultural performances, and artistic expression, participants will share their heritage and personal stories in a space where cultures meet, learn from one another, and celebrate equal representation.

A platform for inclusion and youth empowerment

Beyond the final runway event in May, the Diversity Fashion Show 2026 includes a series of preparatory activities designed to promote inclusion, respect for diversity, and collaboration between communities. Women and youth from different ethnic, cultural, and national backgrounds across Moldova will take part in workshops and community-based activities. Young participants will receive fabrics and materials to create their own designs, strengthening their creative skills and confidence. Community workshops, particularly in areas with strong minority representation, will connect local youth directly with the final fashion show, giving them the opportunity to showcase their work on a national stage.

Highlighting Moldova’s minority communities

The 2026 edition will shine a spotlight on Moldova’s ethnic minorities, including Ukrainian, Roma, Gagauzian, and Bulgarian communities. By ensuring visibility and equal participation, the project actively challenges stereotypes and encourages meaningful collaboration between communities. Through fashion and storytelling, Diversity Fashion Show 2026 contributes to stronger social cohesion and promotes a Moldova where diversity is recognized as a source of richness and strength.

The first and second editions of the African Fashion Show brought together diplomatic missions, minority communities, designers, and partner organizations, combining cultural celebration with social engagement and community support. The 2026 edition builds on this foundation with a stronger focus on youth participation, minority empowerment, and sustainable cultural dialogue.

More than a fashion show, the Diversity Fashion Show 2026 is a platform where creativity becomes a bridge between communities and where diversity becomes visible, celebrated, and shared.
